Proposed Freed Development at Dupont and Spadina

This is what Freed Developments is intending to build on DuPont just west of Spadina - which they presented at the community consultation meeting earlier this month. I thought I would post, as I am concerned that there is not much community awareness about this intended development. They are hoping to start construction of the office tower and residential building early next year.

It’s too bad the design is not more consistent with the Annex streetscape. This building looks like it should be in Missisauga. It would be great if there were Design Principles created to guide development of the Dupont corridor with the intent of at a minimum aligning building materials and design to the streetscape the Annex.

There are many successful examples of developers that combined "old" and "new" , including the Alliance Francaise, condos in the distillery, Liberty Village, etc. It would be great if we had similar principles in the Annex.

If you have comments or are not happy about the design, I encourage you to email the city planner sipo.maphangoh@toronto.ca and our councillor Mike Layton. This development is not yet approved by the City, so there is still time to make an impact.
