The Road Safety and Transportation Committee addresses pedestrian, cycling, automobile traffic, and transit issues. It has been working to resolve:
Cycling policyIn January 2011, the ARA unanimously adopted a cycling policy which seeks to make cycling safer for our residents who cycle. The policy includes recommendations for bike lanes on Bloor, 30km/h speed limits, and contra-flow lanes. The recommendations have received strong public support. The Committee is working on seeing the recommendations become a reality in the Annex. This work includes coordination with neighbouring residents’ groups and advocacy at the city council level. BIKES ON BLOOR The call for bike lanes on Bloor Street continues to gain momentum, especially as new studies confirm the value of improved cycling and walking infrastructure to neighbourhoods and main street businesses. A short video has been produced that includes interviews with local business and neighbourhood leaders calling for bike lanes on Bloor. Watch the video at |
